From 1973 to about 1986 I was quite active in the Upstate New York Post Card Club. In 1974 the club decided to have an annual post card show. I was willing to produce the advertising cards on my small printing press for the first five shows. The second card featured the First Reformed Church in Schenectady, NY steeple, which was across the street from the hall where the show was to be held. This is the same church depicted on card #915. I made two errors in spelling on the card. If you are from the area, you will find the first one. Anyone could find the second! Since my printing press was small, and I had little experience at the time with photos, the photo is VERY dark. These cards were printed the same time that I was producing my first Hold-to-Light post card of Independence Hall. The cards are 3½" x 5½". The reverse centerline states: "Advertising cards donated by Avis Stamp Company." I used a distinctive eagle back on the advertising cards that I printed. . .
The eagle was from an antique advertising post card in my collection. 500 cards were printed. |
