ZEPHANIAH

The following comments are from Navigator's and Quiet Time Diary journals. One verse will be entered, then the comment, then the date.

1:2, 1:18b    "I will sweep away everything from the face of the earth," declares the Lord. ^18b"In the fire of his jealousy the whole world will be consumed, for he will make a sudden end of all who live in the earth."

    This clearly tells us that the end of the earth will be by fire. It will be sudden - not slow. I have no doubts that God can do it! Fortunately 'we' will be raptured first. (DRM 6/11/89)

1:18 {NASV} Neither their silver nor their gold
                        Will be able to deliver them
                        On the day of the Lord's wrath;
                        And all the earth will be devoured
                        In the fire of His jealousy,
                        For He will make a complete end,
                        Indeed a terrifying one,
                        of all the inhabitants of the earth.

    The tribulation has been predicted for over 2,500 years, as shown here. People won't be able to depend on their money to get them through. The only safe way to avoid His wrath is to seek Him as stated in verse 2:3 (DRM 5/7/06)

2:3    Seek the Lord, all you humble of the land, you who do what he commands. Seek righteousness, seek humility; perhaps you will be sheltered on the day of the Lord's anger.

    "Turn or burn." The only answer. To be saved from eternal death, we must seek the Lord. To accept Him, we know we will have eternal life and NOT death. Thank you God! (DRM 6/11/89)

3:9    "For then I will give to the peoples purified lips,
            That all of them may call on the name of the LORD.
            To serve Him shoulder to shoulder."

    The wrath is coming on all the earth. The only way to avoid it is to trust in the Lord God, through His Son, Jesus. Then we will serve Him, shoulder to shoulder (race doesn't matter), in the new Kingdom. Like Zephaniah, I don't know the day, but agree it will be "soon." (1:7) (DRM 5/7/06)

3:17    The LORD your God is in your midst,
           A victorious warrior
           He will exult over you with joy,   
           He will be quiet in His love,
           He will rejoice over you with shouts of joy.

    The tribulation is over, the battles cease. The Lord Jesus has won and He's back in Jerusalem.
    The Jews have claimed their Messiah and He is the Lord Jesus.
    When will this prophecy take place? Only God knows - but it seems that it could be VERY soon - right after the next war. (DRM 3/5/13)
