Willie Asks Pardon and Prays My little boy, who has been sick and in the habit of waking up every morning at six o'clock, an hour before I want to wake, woke up one morning at half-past five, and his mother told him he must keep still for an hour and a half; and he kept making a noise, till at last his mother had to speak pretty quick to him, and when I woke up I found the little fellow sobbing. I said, "Willie, what's the matter?" Well, he was pretty angry with his mother. He got out of bed and knelt down, and I said, "What are you going to do?" "I'm going to say my prayers." I told him God wouldn't hear his prayer while he was angry with his mother. If you bring your prayers to God and have aught against your brother you need not pray. Well, the little fellow went off upstairs, and by-and-by he went up and asked his mother to forgive him, and then he prayed and went off with a light heart, and kept a light heart all day. Christ says, "You can get victory through Me." How easy, when the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts, it is to speak kindly of those who hate us and speak contemptuously of us! |
